Cash-For-Clunker Salvage Yards Need an Exchange Program to Help Environment

The Cash-for-Clunkers was considered a tremendous success. By whom you ask? By those that thought up this scheme, and all the politicians who voted for that Obama Stimulus Package of course. They also claim that it helped the environment, and yet, they crushed all those cars and wasted them. What they should have done is take an inventory of all the salvage yards and all the cars that were sent into these junkyards.

Many cars that were traded-in got 20 miles to the gallon, but they were trading for cars that got 26 miles a gallon, so people still got the rebate. We all  know that there are many US citizens who drive cars that get 10 to 15 miles per gallon, that are just as Used car buyer old or older than the cars which were traded in. If a poor person has an old car that gets 10 miles to the gallon, and they could trade up to one of the cars they got 20 miles per gallon which was traded in on the cash for Clunkers program, then they should be allowed to do that.

That would help the environment and get the car off the street where are really polluting the environment, and getting terrible fuel mileage. After all, why would you scrap and crush a perfectly good car that wasn’t really using that much more fuel than the one that they bought? In fact, as long as you have a car that you were buying that got two more miles per gallon, compared to the one that you traded in, you are still allowed the rebate.

If we ever do this again in the future, we should be thinking here and not crushing perfectly good cars, but offering another round of trade for poor people that can’t afford to buy a new car, even with the rebate. Please consider all this.
